New Student Registration for 2019-2020 (next year)

Kindergarten Registration

Starts April 8, 2019. **AM/PM session preference will be granted first-come, first-serve for students who complete registration and whose documents are current and complete.**

We will hold a Kindergarten Orientation on April 19, 2019 from 9:30 - 11:00.

All Grades Registration

Starts April 22, 2019

After Summer Registration

July 30: 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM

July 31: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

First Day of School (Grades 1-5): August 19, 2019

First Day of School (Kindergarten): August 22, 2019

Registration Steps:

The complete in-office registration process will take approximately 15-20 minutes per student.

  1. Parent or legal guardian brings in ALL of the required documents below to the office. (Office will make copies of originals.)
  2. Parent prints registration forms below or completes forms in the office.
  3. Office staff enters student information into the Skyward system.
  4. Office staff gives guardians Skyward Family Access username and password.
  5. In-office registration is complete as long as all documents are up-to-date.
  6. Parent completes mandatory online registration between August 1st - August 16th. (This is usually done at home. Computers are available in the office with advance notice.)
    • Online Registration: Online registration is mandatory for all students EVERY school year. This is completed through the primary guardian's Skyward Family Access account. 
  7. After online registration, the parent may see the teacher's name in Skyward Family Access under Schedule.

Required Documents:

ALL of the following documents must be brought into the office before a student can be registered.

  1. Birth Certificate
  2. Complete Immunization Record OR Exemption Certificate from the Utah Department of Health
  3. Proof of Address OR Permit
    • IN Lone Peak Elementary Boundary -
      • utility bill, driver's license, or home/lease contract
      • If you are not the home owner or leasee, please provide proof of address document in home owner's name AND letter from the home owner stating that student lives at that address.
    • OUT of Lone Peak Elementary - a permit must be filled out online at: https://permits.canyonsdistrict.org.
      • We are full and will NOT accept permits for the following grades:
      • AM/PM Kindergarten
    • To view your student's boundary school, visit: Boundary Locator.
    • Students on permit are NOT eligible for transportation.

Students transferring from another CANYONS school: Students transferring from another school in the Canyons District are NOT required to provide a birth certificate or immunization record, provided they are complete and on record with the current school. Proof of address or permit are still required, as well as registration in the office. Online registration is also required again for Lone Peak Elementary.

Bussing

Please use the Bus Routes and Eligibility tool located at http://edulog.canyonsdistrict.org/liveweb/webquery/ to find out if your student is eligibile for transportation and to view the exact bus stop locations and times. Students on permit are NOT eligible for transportation. Parents must provide all transportation to and from school.

Teacher of the Year Nominations

It’s been said that the influence of a great teacher can never be erased. To celebrate the indelible marks that educators make in the lives of children, the Canyons Board of Education and Administration are asking for nominations for the District’s 2019 Teacher of the Year. 

The community is invited to submit nominations for this year’s top-teacher award, which will be presented to one educator at a community reception and announcement ceremony on Tuesday, April 23 at the Canyons Administration Building-East, 9361 S. 300 East.  The event, to be in the Professional Development Center, is free to the public. 

To nominate a stellar CSD teacher, fill out the nomination form and return it to your PTA/PTSA or the school where the teacher works. Click here for the form. Nominations for the prestigious award will be accepted until Friday, Feb. 1. 

Following a selection process established nearly a decade ago, Canyons District recognizes a Teacher of the Year at every CSD school. Forty-eight teachers are cheered for their outstanding instructional practices, positive engagement with parents, and professional approach to their craft.

From that field, the District selects one teacher to represent the District in the state top-teacher competition. That educator also will receive the 2019 Apex Award for Teacher of the Year — the highest honor given to teachers by the Canyons Board of Education. 

For the second year, the Canyons Board and Administration will announce one top teacher from the elementary, middle and high school levels. One of those three will be named the District’s top teacher. 

Every school-based Teacher of the Year will receive a basket of donated gifts, a banner with their name to hang outside the school. The Canyons District Teacher of the Year program is generously supported by local businesses and the Canyons Education Foundation.

Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books is a voluntary literacy competition for grades 3rd-5th designed to encourage reading outside the school curriculum. It is designed to encourage students and their families to bond together and develop a love of reading.
