- Brain Boosters Presentation
- Brain Boosters art teacher, Cassie Walker, and theatre technician, Sharla Arnold, introduced themselves to SCC members and shared how they use their class time to aid student engagement tied to school reading goals. The Brain Boosters team uses grade-level content standards as they plan activities and lessons.
- The funding for their salaries comes from Beverley Taylor Sorenson Grant, TSSP, and Land Trust.
- Review Land Trust Plan and Goals
- Discussed and reviewed the current Land Trust plan and expenditures. Land Trust funds are based on student enrollment.
- Land Trust funds are used on the salaries of reading and math instructional assistants and part of the art teacher’s salary.
- Goals are based on Acadience reading and math benchmark data. Reading – 80% of Lone Peak students will make typical or better growth on Acadience Reading benchmark. Math – 85% of Lone Peak students will make typical or better growth on Acadience Math benchmark assessments. Writing – writing scores on the RISE end-of-year will increase by 40.
- Discussion on Attendance and Electronic Device Policies
- Attendance plan handout: student absences are coded as excused, unexcused, doctor’s note, bereavement, court, family event, mental health, religious, and educational leave.
- Chronic absenteeism letters out after the first 5 absences. A second letter goes out after 10 absences and a request for a conference with the principal. Continued absenteeism will result in a certified letter being sent out and referral to the district.
- Lone Peak cell phone and smartwatch policy states that student devices must be turned off, on silent mode, or i backpacks during school hours. If students or parents need to communicate, texting and calling should not occur during school hours.
- A discussion on the policies and handout will occur at the next SCC meeting.
