November News
Thankfulness
What better way to begin the month of November than by expressing gratitude! I am certainly grateful for plenty! I am grateful for the support of our wonderful families (who helped us surpass our fundraising goal. I am grateful we were able to have so many join us for Halloween events. I am grateful for the fabulous weather for the parade. I am also grateful that Halloween is in the books!
In November, students will begin to learn about the process followed for our collective artwork. The entire school is working together to create a fused glass piece to be displayed between the gym and cafeteria. The art will represent student ideas about community. We will unveil it at our Art Show in March and I am very excited to see what amazing work will be created!
Students will also be learning about our Principal’s Pride trait of the month, cooperation. Each grade level will work with our counselor, Tracy Morris, to learn about what cooperation means. Students will then be nominated to receive the award for cooperation for their classroom by classroom teachers. This longstanding tradition is a school favorite. We are hoping to be able to begin offering in-person Principal’s Pride soon. This is dependent on two items: COVID numbers and the exciting addition of our new stage! We will be sure to let you know when we can start this up in-person again!

Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up
Safety First
We have noticed several safety concerns with student drop-off and pick-up. First, there are students whose families are encouraging students to cross in the middle of the road, through the parking lot or across the drop-off lane in the back area. As a reminder, in order to keep all students safe, we need students to cross at crosswalks. In the back, the right lane is for drop-off and pickups and the left lane is for exiting the zone. Please help us to ensure student safety in these zones
Bus Safety
Help Your Bus Driver
Nearly every bus driver has let us know that they are having difficulty with students staying seated on the bus. I have been reminding bus riders that the seat in front of them acts as their seatbelt on the bus. Therefore, it is critical that students remain seated at all times. Please take a few moments to remind your students to remain seated at all times on the bus!
Before and After School Care
New Program
Beginning in January, an independent company will be offering before and after school care for students. The program will be called Champions and information should be coming from the district soon. Students must be signed up to participate. The program will run from 7:30 am to the start of school (and participate in breakfast) and from 3:20 (or 1:40 on Fridays) to 5:30. Please be on the lookout for information if you are interested!
Weather Changes
Dress for Recess
The weather is about to change. At Lone Peak, we try to do everything we can to make sure students can go outside to play. We send students outside unless the temperature is below 22 degrees. Please remember to send students with warm clothing.
