  3. Review Land Trust and Goals
    1. Previous year fluency goal was 80% of students will make typical or better progress as measured by Acadience Pathways to Progress. Acutal score was 75% of students who made typical growth for the 2021-2022 school year. To help increase these scores, Principal Stacy will discuss in PLCs for teachers to use rubrics for Acadience and track student progress. Also, the state will be spot checking the data teachers input into Acadience Progress Monitoring.
    2. Previous year reading goal was 80% of students will make typical or better progress as measured by Reading Inventory and Acadience Reading. The percentages varied across grade levels of students who made typical growth for the 2021-2022 school year. However, the goal was not met by all grades. Principal Stacy believes we will be able to increase reading scores through the new programs teachers are using this year. They are using 95% Phonics for whole group phonics and spelling. Wonders replaced Reading Street, which is more robust and aligned better to meet students’ needs.
    3. Previous year math goal was 85% or students will make typical or better progress as measured by Acadience Concepts and Applications Benchmark data. The percentages varied across grade levels of students who made typical growth in math for the 2021-2022 school year. However, the goal was not met by all grades. Pricipal Stacy believes imrprovements can be made through working more with Number Talks in every classroom.

  4. Discuss Digital Citizenship Presentation and Report by Nicole Luna
    1. Nicole Luna discussed the filtering system Canyons School District has in place to filter out websites that are deemed unsafe for students. Content Keeper filtering system – categorizes known internet content and then allows us to block inappropriate categories.
      1. Blocks YouTube and social media sites – Facebook, Twitter
      2. Allows Google images for users as part of Google. Our filter has enabled safe search for image searches.
    2. Management system Lan School – teacher supervision and screen sharing to manage desktop, laptop, and Chromebook devices. This allows the teacher to monitor the screens of users electronically as well as lock down certain screens. Teachers are asked to use the Lan School system as part of their supervision and avoid having students unsupervised out of the classroom or with a substitute teacher.
    3. Google Apps Management – allows us to manage what apps and services are available for users and set student Gmail accounts to send and receive emails only to teachers and other students.
    4. Content Manager alerts Principal Tracy Stacy by email when inappropriate content has been accessed using student Google account credentials.
    5. District Digital Citizenship Week is October 17-19. Teachers are provided with resources and mini lessons to focus on digital citizenship during that week. In addition, Mrs. Jones, the STEM brain booster technician, teaches a lesson on digital citizenship and has activities for students during their brain booster class.
    6. Nicole Luna has provided teachers with links to use each month to focus on different aspects of digital citizenship. Teachers will send information, flyers or links home each month as they receive them from coordinator, Nicole Luna.
  5. Discuss School Safety Report and Concerns
    1. Tracy Stacy feels the lack of character education is a safety concern with students needing more help with impulsivity, peer relationships, and dealing with social situations. Teachers need more resources to use in morning meetings. Tracy will check with the district about using the character education that is in the Wonders reading program to bridge the gap until the board comes up with another program or resources.
    2. Lara Liu inquired about the ice on the back playground as we come into colder weather. Tracy Stacy relayed the district is plowing the playground and drains were put in last year. Mark Ward (Custodian) salts the stairs and playground regularly. There are announcements on snowy days and increased adult supervision at recess.
    3. Lara Liu stated the cars on the road by bus stops and near school are driving around the signs or crosswalk. This is a safety concern for the bus drivers and the students getting on and off the buses. Tracy Stacy relayed our school officer is and will continue to have a police presence during drop off and pick up times.
    4. Lorie Langeland inquired about the health and safety concerns in the student restrooms. The toilets are clogged with feminine products and other paper products frequently. There is an issue with feces on the floor in the restrooms. Mark Ward (Custodian) immediately takes care of the clogs and messes as it is reported to him or the office. Tracy Stacy relayed that there is a check in/out and one at a time in the restrooms in the affected grade-level restrooms. They are fully aware and we are working on the issue.
    5. SCC members think the number one safety and security concern is getting more resources to teachers. The other concerns can be addressed in the form of character education and some problem-solving skills for students to be more aware of their actions and others.
  6. SCC Next Meeting will be November 14, 2022
  7. Adjourn Meeting at 4:30 p.m.
    1. Motion to adjourn by Julie Schow, seconded by Lorie Langeland. Council voted for: 5, Against: 0
