- School Vandalism Update – Principal Tracy Stacy
- Vandalism on school property has been an ongoing concern at Lone Peak Elementary.
- Recently, the tunnel on the north playground was torched and set on fire along with a porta potty on site for workers on the south playground. There has been damage to outdoor cameras, badge readers have been pulled off the building, and door knobs removed in an attempt to break in.
- In most recent years, the school was broken into with access from the roof and electronics were taken from various parts of the school. Shotgun shells, knives, and other unsafe paraphernalia have been found on the property, including the playground.
- Discussion on what is and can be done – there is an outstanding grant to update outdoor camera, however, there has been no word on when that will be approved.
- There is a need for neighborhood/community support and more patrolling by Sandy City Police. Principal Stacy has reported all incidents and concerns to risk management and the police department. She feels that this issue is not getting the attention it needs and deserves. The SCC members discussed taking these issues and concerns to the Board.
- The SCC members will attend the November 28th Board Meeting to make our concerns known. Craig Estep will be our spokesperson. The meeting is to be held at the Canyons Center at 7:00 p.m.
- A Google Doc will be created by Ms. Stacy and shared with members to add concerns and talking points for the upcoming meeting.
