January 10, 2022 – Minutes

Absent:

  1. Welcome (meeting started at 3:44 p.m.)
  2. Corrections made to November 8, 2021, minutes.
    1. Board meeting date was corrected and question about scheduled remote learning days. Brenda Sim motioned to strike April 20th from the minutes, Lorie Langeland /second. All approved.
    2. Minutes approved from November 8, 2021, SCC meeting – Brenda Sim / Ms. Stacy – second. All approved.
  3. Review Current Plan and Expenditures
    1. An Artist-in-Residence piece will be unveiled in March. Each child contributed to the design. The art piece is a glass mural. The project cost is $2,000.
    2. Ms. Stacy doesn’t feel the current plan needs amending. She is monitoring the numbers closely. Any remaining money will be spent on materials such as math, phonics, reading, technology, etc.
  4. TSSP and Land Trust Plan
    1. Currently, grades 3-5 have new science curriculum for the new science standards. Kits were purchased to aid teachers with this new curriculum.
    2. Grades 1-2 do not have these science kits. Purchasing these kits to assist teachers might be something to consider for next year’s plan.
    3. Funds for BTSA. Provides many interventions for students.
  5. SNAP Plan
    1. Ms. Stacy reports continued concern for the safety of students on the bus and bus drivers.
    2. Ms. Stacy also reports concern for students using the crosswalks. Not all parents are making full stops at the stop signs.
    3. Ms. Stacy will be requesting Sandy city add NO parking along High Mesa Drive, so bus drivers can safely drive down the street. The school will also continue sanding the sidewalks to the school. Ms. Stacy is requesting to maintain the crossing guards by the school and at Lone Eagle Drive.
    4. Ms. Stacy did receive drop-off and pick-up responses from parents. These were most of their concerns as well.
    5. On Thursday, January 14, 2022 – Lara Liu, Lorie Langeland, and Brooke D’Sousa to sign updates to SNAP Plan for Ms. Stacy.
    6. Brooke D’Sousa suggested emailing City Council representatives for code enforcement. (Example of houses that aren’t shoveling sidewalks nearby schools)
  6. Electronic Voting – Brenda Sim to send email out
    1. Electronic voting is not included in today’s meeting so it will not be voted on today.
  7. Summary from November 9 & November 15, 2021, Board Meetings
    1. Can read the minutes Brenda Sim attached to the January agenda or listen to at canyonsdistrict.org.
    2. Surveillance cameras being put up at schools. Lone Peak has had several updates to the facility cameras.
  8.  Timeline for February 14th SCC meeting. Changing date of March SCC meeting.
    1. The meeting on February 14, 2022, will be 1-1.5 hours
    2. Ms. Stacy motioned to change the March SCC meeting to March 7th to be in compliance with deadlines. Lorie Langeland, second. All approved. The March meeting will be held in person to get the required signatures.
