- Digital Connections – including student Chromebook access
- Mr. DeMill reviewed the CSD website concerning Digital Connections for students.
- CSD uses Content Keeper to filter or block content.
- Recently, there are parent concerns on having more restrictive student access. SCC discussed the current options that parents may request. Parents may request more restrictions for their student and can request a report of what their student is accessing.
- Questions from the district were posed to SCC if they should make changes to what the district already has in place concerning student access. Should there be more/less or stay with current filters and restrictions?
- SCC members discussed the need for students to be able to access their accounts from home on weekends or away from school to stay current and complete assignments. Members expressed the need to prepare our students for the progressing digital world. They may not be able to access what they need for assignments if the restrictions are too tight. If something happens to slip through the filters or a student gains access to something questionable it could be used as a teaching moment at home and school.
- Motion to vote NO to a change in student access by Ryan Zimmerman, seconded by Cinnamin Morton.
