Ms. Stacy November Newsletter

Dear Lone Peak Family,

It is crazy how quickly the year is passing.  It is already time for another trimester and thankfully we are still here at school.  We certainly miss seeing our parents more often and hopefully someday soon we will be able to return to parent volunteers.  Until then, we will keep carrying on and helping students feel that school is as normal as we can make it right now. Students are happy and learning and that is the most important thing!  Below is important information for you for second trimester.

Second Trimester and Report Cards

This year the district will be sending out report cards.  On the 24th of November, you should be able to view them on Skyward.  They will be mailed to you on December 2nd.  More information should be coming from the district soon.

Emotional Support

I have had a few questions about how we provide emotional support to students.  First, all students receive a social emotional curriculum which helps students learn how to be the best learner they can, how to advocate for themselves and how to recognize and manage emotions.  In addition, every 6 weeks or so a message comes from Kristin Rector, our school social worker.  She runs groups for students to help them manage anxiety, deal with family changes, etc.  These are 6-week small groups and students get to work with other students.  Finally, there are supports through the Canyons Family Center which are available.   Their website is https://www.canyonsdistrict.org/depts/responsive-services/canyons-family-center/.  If you feel your student needs additional support, please email me or Kristin Rector at kristin.rector@canyonsdistrict.org.

Quarantine and  Schoolwork

We are working hard to try to limit situations where students may need to quarantine.  However, should a situation arise where your student needs to quarantine, I want to let you know where to find their schoolwork.  Students were moved to distance learning on Fridays partially to help provide teachers time to put content on CANVAS for students who are quarantined at home.  Should your student need to quarantine, your classroom teacher will reach out to you to help you know how to access their work on CANVAS.  Hopefully this can help make this school year as easy as it can be right now.

How Can Parents Help?

Have you considered signing up to be an emergency substitute?   Sometimes we have absences which go unfilled.  If you have the time, we would love some of our parents to apply to be emergency substitutes.  If this is something you are interested in, please follow the enclosed directions.

I hope you and your family enjoy Thanksgiving Break.
